Terms & Conditions – Sovereign Document Search

1) What this tool is
This tool provides document search and retrieval across a defined corpus. It is designed to help users locate relevant material more efficiently and present it with source references.

Intended use
This tool is designed to support investigative journalism, legal research, academic research, and other public-interest analysis by enabling efficient location of relevant source documents within a defined corpus.

Use outside these contexts is permitted only where lawful and responsible. This tool must not be used to make determinations of guilt, truth, or liability, and all outputs must be independently verified against the original source documents.

2) What this tool is not
It is not a court, investigator, regulator, or journalist. It does not make findings of fact, accusations, determinations of guilt, or legal conclusions. Any narrative text is a convenience summary only and must be verified against source material.

3) Verification is mandatory
You must treat outputs as unverified until checked against the original documents. You are responsible for confirming accuracy, context, and meaning before acting or sharing any information.

4) Data source
This corpus is derived from publicly released U.S. Department of Justice files downloaded on 2026-02-02. We do not warrant completeness or that all materials released elsewhere are included.

5) No warranty of completeness or availability
We do not warrant that the dataset is complete, continuously available, free from omission, or free from error. Search results may be incomplete, may not return every relevant item, and may reflect limitations in source material, OCR, indexing, captioning, or retrieval logic.

6) User responsibility and lawful use
You are responsible for how you use this tool and any output derived from it. You must use the service lawfully, responsibly, and with appropriate judgement. You must not use this service to harass, defame, threaten, misrepresent, or unlawfully process personal data or source material.

7) Sensitive material
This dataset may contain sensitive, distressing, explicit, or reputationally significant material. Users must act with care, apply human judgement, and verify context before relying on or sharing any result. The existence of a retrieved result does not by itself establish truth, relevance, or evidential weight.

8) Intellectual property, provenance and supplied material
This service presents search and retrieval across a defined corpus derived from publicly released U.S. Department of Justice files. AIVS does not claim authorship of the underlying source documents. Any additional software, extractor tools, CSV outputs, or structured delivery materials supplied by AIVS remain subject to AIVS terms, licensing position, and any applicable legal restrictions.

9) Service changes and withdrawal
AIVS may change, suspend, restrict, or withdraw this service, its features, access conditions, or related delivery options at any time. We may also update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10) Email contact and updates
If you provide an email address, we may retain it and use it to send you your requested search results, service-related messages, and occasional updates about this search service or related AIVS services. You may opt out of non-essential update emails at any time by using the unsubscribe or opt-out method provided in the email, or by contacting us at info@aivs.uk.

11) Full dataset and offline access
The underlying dataset consists of publicly released U.S. Department of Justice files. AIVS offers the complete dataset as downloaded, together with searchable extractor software. This allows results exported from this system, including CSV outputs, to be loaded locally, enabling the corresponding source documents to be retrieved directly from disk in a structured folder format.

12) Acceptance
By ticking the box below and using the tool, you confirm you have read, understood, and accept these terms.
